"Champion of Champions" Photographs

British Saddleback Breeders’ Club Champion of Champions Competition. The Breed champions from 21 leading shows* are all awarded special qualifier rosettes as do the runners-up. Each champion may then compete in the final at Hatfield Show (in August each year) where the Champion of Champions will be judged. Should any of the Champions have already qualified, the Reserve Champion from that event will be deemed the qualifier. The Champion of Champions receives a silver challenge trophy for the year, a bronze medal to keep and a special rosette and sash. The runner-up receives a bronze medal and rosette

The Club promotes the breed with information stands and leaflets at different shows.

British Saddleback Breeders' Club Breeding Female Championships

Inaugurated in 2009, this new competition is for the Jim Appleton Memorial Cup presented by the Appleton family and the winners of the Sow class and July Gilt class from 15 leading shows qualify for the finals at the Great Yorkshire Show in July. Qualifiers receive a special rosette and if a winning has already qualified, the next unqualified pig in that class shall qualify instead. The winner receives the trophy and a sash and rosette presented by the Club. The runner-up wins a special rosette.

The 2009 Breeding Female Champion - the first winner of this new Championships for Britsh Saddleback Breeding Females was keenly fought among 14 qualifiers but in the end, judge Nick Hargrave awarded the prize to Andy Burwell's Stokedoyle Lottie 173, a very smart gilt shown by Alice Burwell.

The 2009 Breeding Female Reserve Champion was Julian Newth's gilt, Prestcombe Dinah 71 which had travelled up from Somerset and was shown by Julian's daughter, Alice.
